Diana Hacker Exercises (exercises)

The late Diana Hacker is the author of such well-known and well used writing handbooks as The Bedford Handbook, Rules of Writers and A Writer’s Reference.  The online companion web sites for these books all offer well crafted interactive exercises.  What is particularly useful about the design of these exercises is that they are a learning tool:  after each question the user learns why the answer was correct or incorrect. The site includes writing, grammar and research exercises.  The grammar section includes exercises on punctuation.  NOTE:  The site asks the student to sign in, but you don’t need to do this to use the exercises.  Tell your students to just hit “CANCEL’ and proceed directly to the exercises.

Purdue University OWL (Online Writing Lab)
